Well the second reading of Q4 2016’s economic growth was an improvement, with both Q4 and Q3’s growth being revised upwards. However, it wasn’t enough to increase 2016’s overall full year growth beyond 1.6%, the worst growth rate since 2012.

Of course what we really want to know is whether Q1’s growth comes in closer to the Atlanta Fed’s forecast of 1.2%, or the New York Fed’s projected 2.9%. The economic data, not suprisingly remains muddled, with various reports showing declining industrial activity, slowing car sales, but also accelerated home sales and construction.

However, as individual investors none of this really affects what we should be doing. Which is why the end of the month is my favorite time, because we add to any stock we own that’s trading at a 15% discount to fair value. This time around that included:
