Before we get to the interesting stuff: Gold set an all-time high in Australian Dollars yesterday. And one “unadulterated” US index puts inflation at 10%. Both interesting, but not enough to make it to #1 on the interest scale this morning. What tops the chart is Russia looking for Napoleon’s gold. Yes, that’s right. Two hundred years ago Napoleon’s army made off with 80 tonnes of Russian gold and supposedly buried it on their way back to France.
Despite notes by one of his generals gave the location no trace of it has ever been found, or at least no one has never admitted to finding it. Now a Russian historian believes he’s figured out where Napoleon hid the gold, which would amount to 400 horse-drawn cartloads in Napoleon’s day.
